Jacobs Colonoscopy

Yesterday was the big day...Jacobs colonoscopy and upper endoscopy...we were up at 3 am for the enema...which wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Jacob and I arrived at the hospital promptly at 6 am....we were greeted by a room with a bed full of new toys and books. {see the fire engine hat below }.... after some paperwork and baseline vitals...we all got down to business. His Dr came in and explained everything, making sure I understood exactly what was going to happen. We gave Jacob the "goofy juice" {berry flavored to make it easier to drink...} within 10 minutes he was "drunk" ....it was really funny...hehe....he would try to sit up and fall over....soon, they came and decided that he was ready to go back. we pulled out the {strawberry scented} oxygen mask for the anesthesia and I followed him as far as I could...I gave him a little kiss and said a prayer...then they whisked him into the O.R. { as soon as we was completely asleep they ran the IV's..that way he never felt them set those up }
The procedure took an hour. The Dr came out and spoke to me... they didn't see anything on scope { they didn't expect too } but he took samples for biopsy from the colon,pancreas,stomach,intestines and bowels...we are awaiting those results...
In Post Op....Jacob was very cranky but started settling down after some cuddles and water. He was having a difficult time breathing and wound up having 3 breathing treatments before they would let him go home...We were there in Post Op for a long time....wheezing, gasping, breathing treatments...At one time the Dr thumped his back for almost an hour trying to get him to cough. She almost checked him in..... finally she decided he could go home - if I continued the breathing treatments and took him to see our Peditrician in the morning he hated the armbands...
This was in registration before we went upstairs... A little drunk on the goofy juice...
A kiss for my Pea
